1. Graduate Summer Fellowships in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
Since 1959 the GFD program has promoted an exchange of ideas among researchers in the many distinct fields that share a common interest in the nonlinear dynamics of fluid flows in oceanography, meteorology, geophysics, astrophysics, applied mathematics, engineering and physics.
The Program commences with two weeks of Principal Lectures focusing on a particular theme in GFD. For 2017, the theme is "Ice-Ocean Interactions", and the lecturers will be Andrew Fowler (University of Oxford), Adrian Jenkins (British Antarctic Survey), and Fiamma Straneo (WHOI/Scripps Institution of Oceanography).

3. PhD fellow in the Greenland Perspective initiative
Project description
The PhD is part of the Greenland Perspective initiative (www.greenlandperspective.dk) – a multidisciplinary initiative focused on activating research into the Greenlandic society. The research within this initiative is carried out in collaboration with Greenlandic, Danish and International research institutions, industry and authorities.
The purpose of the project is to evaluate and document the biological effects of glacially derived rock flour in tropical soil amelioration. The research will be mainly experimental working on simulated and actual tropical soils, but may include numerical geochemical modelling.
Formal requirements
We seek candidates with an academic background in geology/geochemistry/earth science, qualifying for enrolment in the 5+3 programme (3 year PhD programme). We prefer candidates with a thorough understanding of geochemistry with a special interest in the Arctic or in tropical soil. Good English and Danish language skills are necessary. Greenlandic language skills would be a bonus. As criteria for the assessment of the candidate’s qualifications, emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any), grade-point average, relevant work experience, and other professional activities.
