4.Tenured / Tenure‐Track Faculty - TAMU Atmospheric Sciences
Two tenured/tenure‐track faculty positions at Texas A&M University
The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University is searching for candidates in the areas of atmospheric chemistry, aerosol science, physical meteorology, remote sensing and instrumentation,“big data”science, high‐performance computing, extreme event attribution, boundary layer meteorology, or microphysics. Candidates working in other areas of atmospheric sciences that complement the current strengths of the department are also invited to apply. We anticipate filling two tenured or tenure‐track positions—one of the positions at the associate or full professor level, while the other could be filled at any rank.
The successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain an independent and externally funded research program and contribute to transformative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is desirable but is not required. Applicants seeking appointment at the associate or full professor rank must be recognized leaders in the field with a record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with their rank.

5.Environmental Data Standards Postdoctoral Scholar
Berkeley Lab’s Energy Geosciences Division (https://eesa.lbl.gov/our-divisions/energy-geosciences/) has an opening for a Environmental Data Standards Postdoctoral Scholar. The DOE’s Environmental Systems Science Data Infrastructure for a Virtual Ecosystem (ESS-DIVE, http://ess-dive.lbl.gov/) is a new data archive for Earth and environmental science data. ESS-DIVE will store diverse datasets from various environmental sciences that include hydrology, geology, ecology, geochemistry, biology, climate and geophysics.
Defining and adopting the right data and metadata standards for these data are active research topics, involving an interdisciplinary community of data scientists, digital librarians and environmental scientists. The project will involve working with the DOE’s Environmental System Science (ESS) community as well as the broader earth science informatics community (e.g. NCEAS, AGU, RDA, ESIP) to select or develop metadata and data formats and standards for the diverse data types, build automated parsers to ingest standardized data, enable data integration and use of these datasets in ecosystem models.
