1.Product Manager at the Alaska Earthquake Center
The Alaska Earthquake Center is hiring the position of Product Manager. This is a leadership position with primary responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the center's data products, ranging from earthquake parameters and raw seismic waveforms, to metadata. The purview of the position includes the center's quality control procedures and a lead role in the development and implementation of new products. This individual will be directly involved in the day-to-day activities of several people and, depending on qualifications, may lead a team of staff.
The Alaska Earthquake Center is part of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The center's mission spans monitoring, research, and public engagement. The Product Manager is expected to have involvements across all three mission areas, and maintain substantial internal and external communications. Close involvement with the research community and stakeholders is critical to understanding how the center's products are used and what the center's development priorities should be.

2.PhD and MSc assistantships in mathematical and computational hydrogeology
A number of assistantships for PhD and MSc students are available in Dr. Scott Hansen's group in the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, part of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. Research in the group centers on inverse problems, random walk methods, quantification of uncertainty due to unresolved heterogeneity, and use of machine learning for predictive modelling and upscaling. MSc and PhD students who are skilled in applied mathematics and computer programming are sought for a number of potentially high-impact projects.
Work in the group is interdisciplinary, so a variety of student backgrounds may provide good preparation, including physics, mathematics, engineering, and geosciences. Regardless of background, strong quantitative skills (whether acquired formally or independently) and excellent problem-solving abilities are musts. The ability to express ideas clearly in spoken a and written English is similarly important.

6.Postdoctoral Research Scientist
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in cryospheric sciences.
Researchers at Lamont work to understand the dynamics of the Earth's chemical, physical and biological systems, from the core to the upper atmosphere, including Earth's interactions with human society. Our scientists lead research in the fields of solid Earth dynamics; ocean, atmospheric and climate systems; cryospheric sciences; paleoclimate and biogeoscience.
Main responsibilities:
To develop a program of research focusing on using existing ice-penetrating radar datasets and physics-based mathematical modelling to understand the past and present flow of ice sheets. Available data include ground-based and airborne ice-penetrating radar data from East Antarctica aimed at understanding the deepest layers. These data have been collected by researchers at Lamont-Doherty, the Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS), and NASA Operation Ice Bridge. The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop research ideas aimed at analyzing these data with the aid of mathematical techniques, including modelling of ice flow and radar-wave propagation.
